Peer Tutoring
Welcome to Peer Tutoring Services!
We're ready and happy to assist you in your academic goals! Peer tutoring happens in a variety of formats including:
- One-on-one
- Drop-in
- Directed study tables
- Embedded
To request a tutor, please click on the button below, "Request a Peer Tutor." This will direct you to a request form for a peer tutor. Once we receive your request, we will begin to match you up with a qualified tutor. Assigning a peer tutor may take up to ten working days. Once the match-up is made, the time for tutoring sessions is arranged between the peer tutor and student.
Peer tutors are not guaranteed for courses that offer drop-in tutoring or directed study tables.
The available drop-in tutoring and directed study tables are listed in the Drop-In and Directed Study Table Schedule.
All one-on-one tutoring occurs in the Grace Hauenstein Library.
Peer tutors meet with students to:
- Examine student learning strategies
- Review information
- Discuss content of reading assignments
- Work through examples of homework problems
- Conduct exam preparation
Peer tutors have excellent academic records and are always recommended by faculty to assure reliable assistance. They are trained in tutoring techniques and work under the supervision of the Peer Tutor Coordinator .

Become a Peer Tutor
A Peer Tutor within CORE connects with students through one-on-one, small or large group tutoring, and drop-in tutoring. Peer Tutors serve as a bridge between the student and the professor, and they meet with students on a weekly basis to assist in clarifying class specific concepts, sharing effective study and note taking strategies, and preparing students for upcoming tests.
Students interested in becoming a Peer Tutor should contact Jill Straub, Peer Tutoring Coordinator, at straujil@vbj4.com
